To stay warm during these cold winter months in Chicago, I invested in a fuzzy, teddy bear coat. This style coat has become a huge fashion statement this season and I am totally on board for this trend. Number one, it feels like I am walking around in a fuzzy blanket. Number two, it is adorable. And number three, it can be dressed up or down depending on what you’re in the mood for. I bought this coat last year during a huge sale at Zara. I didn’t get much use for it since it was the end of the winter season. But I have been completely attached to it this year. I was able to find some very similar options at Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters.
Top and Bottom:
I decided to dress up and experiment with this coat, so for this look, I attempted many different fabrics to create a spunky outfit. Underneath my teddy bear coat, I wore a long knit black sweater from H&M. I love how light-weight this sweater is yet it still keeps me really warm during the winter. To match the black sweater and add some dimension to the outfit, I wore a pair of gingham pants that I have been raving about recently. They’re my go-to pants during the wintertime when I want to dress up (similar pants at Forever 21). While this second pants option is not exactly gingham style, they fall in that family of plaid print that will look just as good as the gingham pants. The print on the pants matched perfectly with the black and beige tones from the sweater and jacket. I really loved pairing all these different fabrics and styles together.
Head and Toes:
The shoes I went for are my basic black leather booties from Forever 21 that are no longer in stock, but I was able to track down similar ones at both Forever 21 and Macy’s. They match with absolutely everything and are so broken in now that they have become one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own.
As for my hijab, I chose a color similar to the teddy bear coat itself. I’ve had it for so long – it was a Forever 21 snag, but again, I tracked down one just like it from GESSO Collection.
To add a little dazzle to out the outfit, I wore my rose gold Michael Kors watch. If you want to add some sparkle with a less pricey alternative, shop this option from Kohl’s. Another accessorizing option would be to wear a pretty necklace that can add a little drama to the look without being too extravagant, such as this one from Forever 21.
To keep in the theme of patterns and prints, I topped this outfit off with a Louis Vuitton bag. The brown color complimented the tones from the hijab and coat so exquisitely. Another bag option is any printed or glossy textured bag like one of these from ASOS or ZARA. Anything with a brown tone or a print will go well with this outfit. It was fun to incorporate a bunch of patterns and fabrics to this overall look. I especially loved how the outfit came together in the end. I will definitely be experimenting with many more fabrics and prints this season.
