High-End Makeup Products That Are Worth the Splurge

High-End Makeup Products That Are Worth the Splurge -

I am not a beauty or fashion blogger by any means. But like many, when I have new found product obsessions I want to share it with the world.

My humble Instagram following most likely doesn’t care whether or not a body scrub I discovered gives me that special golden glow to match my Egyptian ancestry. After the shower, I can hear the Goddess’s of Ancient Egypt rejoicing because my skin tone has a matching golden glisten. Amira Ahmed, Founder and Scrub Magician, infuses natural ingredients and the metaphysical properties in her products that give them that special spark. My personal two favorites are the Black Amber Lavender scrub  and Honey Almond scrub.

On days when I feel my self love could be amplified and I want to heighten my energetic protection shield, I’ll use the Black Amber Lavender scrub. Whereas on days I want to be in a state of peace, pure happiness and a touch of sass, I’ll use the Honey Almond scrub. Don’t let my short list of recommendations stop you from visiting the Sugar Dynamite’s online store here. Since our skin is the largest organ of our body, keeping it healthy is vital to our make up routine. Starting my regimen with Sugar Dynamite’s body scrub every morning has helped rejuvenate my skin and prepare me for the shift in products I use.

I’ve compiled a list of my top 10 favorite beauty products that are getting me through these tough 70 degree Southern California Winter’s.

#1. Clinique Moisturizer Surge. I’ve officially broken up with La Mer *gasp*. When I was stuck in Kansas City, a story I’ll save for another article, and the -15 degree weather forced me to curl up in fetal position and cry out in frozen agony, my skin felt like rough sand paper. No matter how much product I lathered on, my skin did not absorb an ounce of moisturizer. Until my friend recommended Clinique’s Moisturizer Surge. At first I was reluctant because I hadn’t used anything from Clinique since I was 15, back when clear lip gloss made me feel like I was ready to walk the runway of Junior High. Not only does this product actually work but it is revolutionary. Your skin drinks it up! It leaves a fresh feeling with a healthy glow. I became a huge believer in Clinique now that after a week of using the moisturizer, I replaced my entire skin care routine with all Clinique!

#2. Laura Mercier Primer. I rarely wear full glam because I don’t like the feeling of having a lot of makeup on, especially on my face. I sampled Laura Mercier’s primer and loved the way it gave me a flawless canvas to apply my foundation. I use the Foundation Primer but there are many options such as, oil-free, moisturizer, radiance, etc. I’ve found the simpler the better, for me.

#3. Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. Basically you can get caught in a desert storm with this setting powder on and your makeup will not budge. Enough said.

#4. Tom Ford Concealer Pen. 10,000 Angels descended upon earth to rejoice when Tom Ford’s Concealing Pen hit the market. Not only is the pigmentation provide full coverage, reduce fine lines to give you a flawless finish but it’s very light weight. I wear a 6.0 Natural tone but on days when I want to make my eyes appear brighter, I dab a spec of 3.0 Pale Dune tone right underneath the center of my eye to give it a pop.  On occasional days my anemia induced eye bags make an appearance, this is the only concealer to provide me with impeccable coverage.

#5. YSL The Shock Mascara. I haven’t taken the plunge yet to getting false lash extensions but honestly now that I have Yves Saint Laurent’s miraculous mascara, I don’t think I’ll need to make the investment. If you’re looking for dramatic, full and volumizing eye lashes without paying for extensions then look no further than YSL. The mascara doesn’t clump, it lasts all day and doesn’t damage my eye lashes. During my nightly routine, I do apply castor oil on my lashes to maintain durability, length and overall health of my lashes.

#6. NARS Audacious Lipstick in Barbara. I have too many lipsticks. And I’m OK with that. I accept myself. I am impressed with NARS Audacious lipstick line! Shade Barbara is a classic brown toned nude. The lipstick itself is creamy, does not give a non-drying feel or look on the lips and it’s moisturizing.

#7. Tom Ford Lipstickin Satin Chic. Again, I have too many lipsticks. Send help! Just kidding. This is another nude shade that I am absolutely in love with. There is a warm peach undertone with a cream finish. I pair it Tom Ford’s lip pencil in – Public Display.

#8. Hourglass Lip Treatment Oil. Within hours of first using this, my lips became hydrated and more plump. The 24 karat gold tip might contribute to the steep price tag on this but with the results it produces, it’s worth it.

#9. Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick. When I do wear full glam and need to put foundation on, I can’t imagine how I’ve survived all these years without Tom Ford. His traceless formula is creamy, lightweight but provides medium to full coverage and blends easily. It’s perfect for my skin type, I am sensitive and prone to oil in my T-zone. The foundation does not cause build up throughout the day nor do I have any reaction from it. I wear 5.5 Bisque. I love the matte finish!

#10. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. This bronzer provides a sun kissed natural look. I use the Park Ave Princess shade and love it! The pigmentation is strong and I love that it blends easily.
