To celebrate the arrival of my sister’s baby, my sisters, mom, and I decided to have teatime at The Langham Chicago. Being beyond extra for the occasion, we went all out and dressed to the nines. We wore big, vibrant colored hats and floral dresses, topped off with pearls and rosy lips!
I took a few steps out of my comfort zone with this look. I don’t typically wear florals or vibrant pink-colored clothes. Since I had a hard time finding a long-sleeve, floral dress that was both flattering and had a pattern that I liked, I settled on a halter-style floral dress that was rich with a combination of beautiful shades of pink. I paired it with a white, bell-sleeved crop top. The combination worked out quite flawlessly. The dress flowed and fit perfectly, not too long or short.
And after wearing bell sleeves for this occasion, I’ve actually become obsessed with this style. They add a dressed up element to any outfit, making it look fancy without putting in the effort. White pumps were the natural choice for this look and too keep the focus on the themed-elements of the outfit, I also wore a white hijab that has a zipper trim. I love this hijab. The material is comfortable and the zipper trim takes the basic white hijab to the next level of chic with a twist. And just to note, the zipper trim is not rough nor did it get caught in any of the fabric of my clothes. For that extra-extra, I chose to wear a big, pink hat to get more of a tea-time vibe, and surprisingly, wearing a hat over a hijab is actually comfortable.
Each week, The Langham has a theme for their afternoon tea, and the week we attended was Alice In Wonderland. They offered clock and ace-of-spades cookies as well as funfetti croissants, which were all delicious. The croissants were paired with three spreads, fresh raspberry jam, whipped butter, and vanilla custard. For a more of a savory snack, we had finger sandwiches that were also unique and satisfying. There was the classic cucumber sandwich, an avocado and egg sandwich, and a veggie sandwich topped with a hummus spread. We got to choose from a large variety of teas. The two tea flavors I chose were peach and mango, both being black teas infused with each fruit flavor. I had five cups of tea! It was so addicting and I never knew I would enjoy a cup of tea as much as I did that day. The vibe of The Langham was calm and relaxing. Everyone was accommodating and friendly. Our cups were always full and fresh croissants and cookies were often refilled on our plates. The afternoon was beautiful and one for the books. We talked and laughed and really felt like we were somewhere in Europe, looking fabulous and sipping tea.
